24 Hours

The difference in the two pictures above is only 24 hours.

Oh, what a difference a day makes. It’s truly remarkable what can happen in the day of a flower…and in a human spirit.

Case in point: We can have a long, difficult week and one day at the end of that week can change things. We can have a long, stressful week ahead of us and one day at the beginning of that week can change things. That day is called the Sabbath Day.

We often limp to the Sabbath day turned inward. Tired, jaded, and cynical about the week behind us. It’s not hard to be hardened by life after six days straight of a broken world.

That is why we must have Sabbath.

We need Sabbath to open us up again. Sabbath allows us to break free of what has caused us to withdraw. It allows time for God to remind us that He is trustworthy and unchanging. He draws our focus from INward to UPward.

All in 24 hours.

Do not neglect the Sabbath Day God has gifted to you. Let’s don’t say how tired we are when we haven’t sought His rest.

24 hours makes a difference.

“Six days you shall labor, and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God.” Exodus 20:9

Father, you knew how much we need rest and you provided in advance. Help us to receive your gift and not fill our life with unworthy things. In Jesus name, Amen.
