Put in Our Place

It is so good and so right for us to be put in our proper place from time to time. It’s good and right to be reminded how very small we are in this plan. We certainly have a purpose. We matter to the world and are loved by the God who created us. We have jobs to do and we need to do them well. But, aren’t you blessed in remembering that your successes likely can’t turn the course of history and your failures won’t stop the earth from spinning? I am. I am just not THAT important.??

The expanse of creation serves to remind us that we are small but the God who holds us is not. We can go a hundred miles per hour in a hundred different directions and it’s all in the name of important things. Important, yes. But, not ultimate. Only God is ultimate. He is God of the tallest mountain and God of a tiny human heart as it beats in rhythm. We can rest and carry out our purposes knowing we’re His children.

“Oh Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth.” Psalm 8:9

Dear Father, let us bow before you in thanksgiving. You are so much greater than we can imagine. Let our hearts be at peace knowing you hold us. In Jesus name, Amen.
