I can describe my beautiful mother with these character traits and so many others. She has been such a godly influence in my life. Now that I am a mother, I appreciate her even more. Quite frankly, I need to apologize for the eye rolls I undoubtedly gave her in my teen years.? What about the sacrifices she made for me? Thank you seems so inadequate.

My mom embodies the Proverbs 31 woman – “she gets up while it is still night; she provides food for her family…she sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks…she opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy…she is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: Many women do noble things but you surpass them all. Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.”

Wow, Mom! You’ve set the bar high! I hope and pray that I can be the kind of mom you have been to me! I love you, Mom!

Dear Lord, we celebrate and thank you for the gift of mothers. We want to strive to be godly mothers. Lord, we know that Mother’s Day can be hard for many. Some ladies desperately long to be moms. Some have lost their moms. Others have fractured relationships with their moms. Please help us all to feel seen, known, and loved by you. Thank you for loving us, and help us to long to know and love you more. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
