Special Ministries

The Special Ministries of First Baptist Jackson ensures that people with special needs have a safe place to learn about Jesus Christ. Loving volunteers joyfully lead our students to worship together through Bible stories, learning God’s word, music, crafts, prayer request, and fellowship.

Your First Visit

We welcome anyone with any kind of disability. To make sure we do our best to make your family member feel welcomed and loved, please feel free to call us before your first visit. We can work with you and provide your loved one the best experience to learn about Jesus. Our contact information is found at the bottom of the page.

We offer Sunday morning and Sunday evening groups for worship and discipleship. See class directory below.

Family Testimonies

“The Special Ministries Program at First Baptist Jackson has truly been special to my family for over 30 years. They have provided a place for my autistic son to attend church which allowed my family to attend church. I have always felt that the workers in this program are the truly the ‘special’ ones giving of themselves in such an unselfish manner. I didn’t choose to have a son with special needs, but they made a choice to love him and others like him. There’s gotta be a special place in Heaven for these workers.” — Mike Pigford

First Jackson supports and hosts events around Jackson to support our special needs community.  Engage and serve and be blessed in every aspect of this ministry.

A Parable Illustration

When our front lawn began to turn from a medium beige to a lovely shade of spring green, I was elated. It was time for the hum of the lawnmower and a refreshing look to our address.

Trends have changed in morals. Only a short time ago certain behaviors were considered immoral or immodest. Exposure is the prevailing theme in the present age, and moral fashion is determined by the individual.

Power Unlimited

Years and experience have gradually taught me that real discipleship is about being Christ-like – not in the supernatural but in the ordinary.

Fear or Faith

A new normal – that’s what I’ve heard repeatedly on the news for days. Terrorists, extremists, and radicals are some of the new normal names. All are meant to strike terror into the hearts and minds of the average citizen and turn violence into the universal language.

Never Alone

We have the map! The path is narrow, but it leads to Home.

Each day we’re growing away from experiences that we can never repeat. I’ve become particularly aware of this after I’ve watched another year spin its calendar pages instead of turning them.

Dark Visitor

The question my Lord asks me: “Why don’t you hate sin as much as that shelled creature and why don’t you seek sin’s destruction with the same passion?”

Her Treasure Box

Our attic is already more crowded than I had anticipated after our downsizing, but there would be room for one more box. How does one discard such personal reminders of God’s love and faithfulness?

Then and Now

The One Thing My Grandchildren Must Know: And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. John 17:3
