Expecting the Unexpected

While drinking your morning coffee, Gabriel sits down next to you and says, “God has a job for you.” How would you react? Mary seemed very calm to me, very accepting even in her fear. Would we freeze in fear or hear in faith and believe?

Her name is Mary and she was just a maid doing a daily chore.
Then out of no where an angel came to implore,
“Do not fear, my greeting is from the Lord!”
Fear entered in and took hold as to her he spoke a troubling thought.
Could this be true? Would God this miracle wrought?
Is she the vessel for a holy vision caught?
A glorious miracle for an undeserved people our God this planned,
For Mary to carry the son of God, the son of man,
To be our soul’s perfect salvation plan.
This baby, His people He’ll claim and pay the sin-debt they owe.
From manger to cross to fulfilling heaven’s rainbow,
So man’ll NOT now reap what he did sow.

“And the angel said to her, ‘Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold you will conceive in your womb and bear a son and you shall call His name Jesus’” Luke 1:30-33 (Isaiah 55:8)

Lord God who loved us so much, You sent His only Son, may the faith of Mary abound in our hearts as we praise Your holy name in grateful gratitude. Amen
