While officially chartered in January 1921, Troop 8 held its first organized meeting in 1920 making it today one of the oldest, continuously sponsored Boy Scout troops in America by the same organization, First Baptist Church Jackson. Troop 8 has the distinction of awarding nearly 600 Eagle Scouts since its founding.
The troop currently meets almost every Monday night, with a few exceptions, between the months of August and May from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church Christian Life Center (3rd floor).
Troop 8 in Jackson, Mississippi, is a member of the Boy Scouts Andrew Jackson Council.
