Christmas Love — Because He First Loved Us

Every Christmas Eve my family gathers to play games, sing carols, read Luke 2, and remind each other what we are thankful for that year. This continues to be one of my favorite traditions – not because of the gifts and the laughter but because of Jesus’ love on display.

At Christmas, those who may not have a place to celebrate Christmas have an open invitation to our home. We have enjoyed people from different countries, beliefs, etc. All are accepted and loved.

Growing up with this example has shown me that I can love others because He first loved me (1 John 4:19). This genuine love is seen especially at Christmas when we celebrate the God of heaven coming to be among humans, eventually becoming the sacrifice for us: Genuine love! When my family meets every Christmas Eve, it is this love that we share with all. So, I ask you this: How can you and your family show the love of Jesus, not just to each other, but to others around you this Christmas season?

Heavenly Father, please show me how to always share the amazing love of Jesus with all those around me. In the name of Jesus, Amen
