Prayer Guide | December 6

“In the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a town in Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin engaged to a man named Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. And the angel came to her and said, “Rejoice, favored woman! The Lord is with you.”” Luke 1:26-28

“The angel replied to her: ‘The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore, the holy One to be born will be called the Son of God.’… ‘I am the Lord’s slave,’ said Mary. ‘May it be done to me according to your word.'” Luke 1:35, 38

“Rejoice, favored woman!” In today’s world, “favored” and “blessed” are words often associated with material possessions, wealth, or success. But Mary was a young girl from a simple background – someone whose status many today may not consider as favored. Yet she was chosen above all others to give birth to our Savior. What better way to show that any of us – regardless of what we do or don’t have, who we do or don’t know, what we can or can’t do – can be used for God. We need only listen for the messages He sends us and be prepared to respond as faithfully as Mary did.

We’ve made it through rehearsals! From my first-row seat, you are looking and sounding great. Prepare yourself spiritually for the five concerts this weekend. Take some time today to rest, to be still, and to think about how God might want to use you. Be prepared to respond as faithfully as Mary did.

Pray for members of the stage crew. This team works when the stage is black, moving heavy sets and props. Pray for safety and strength as they work through set changes and assisting choir members and cast who are moving in the dark.
