Prayer Guide | December 5

“Mary asked the angel, ‘How can this be, since I have not been with a man?” The angel replied
to her: “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore, the holy One to be born will be called the Son of God.'”
Luke 1:34-35

“The birth of Jesus Christ came about this way: After His mother Mary had been engaged to Joseph, it was discovered before they came together that she was pregnant by the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to name Him Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins.” Matthew 1:18, 21

Imagine the range of thoughts and emotions that must have filled Mary when Gabriel came to her and told her she would be giving birth to a Savior for the world. Yet her reaction was “I am the Lord’s servant.” Joseph likewise followed God’s instructions in taking Mary as his wife,

Today, think about what your life would look like if, when faced with difficult situations or the unexpected, your reaction was always, “Lord, I am yours.” How does your life differ today from what you had once planned, because you did say, “Lord, I am yours”?

Pray for students and members of the orchestra (many of them also students) participating in Carols today. Most students are either in exams or preparing for exams. Pray for God’s comfort for in the lives of the students and orchestra members.
