Consignment Sale in Downtown Jackson Attracts Thousands of Shoppers and Raises Tens of Thousands of Dollars for People in Need in Jackson

Thursday, February 22, 2018 – Tomorrow, one of the biggest sales events of the year will begin right here in downtown Jackson.  First Baptist Church of Jackson will host their semi-annual Little Feet Consignment Sale raising money for two of their partner missions here in Jackson – CityChurch and Buried Treasures Home. Thousands of shoppers from around Jackson are expected to shop through the weekend, many of who are in need of clothes for their children.

In 2012, a group of young women, all a part of First Baptist Jackson’s Woman’s Missionary Union, decided that they, too, wanted to be able to help missionaries in foreign countries but they were unable to travel because they all had small children.  Instead, they created an event here in Jackson where they could raise money to send around the world and the event turned into much more than just a fundraiser for foreign missions, it’s now a major fundraiser for local ministries right here in Jackson.

The first Little Feet Consignment Sale raised about $15,000 and the most recent event raised more than $65,000.  In total, since 2012, more than $500,000 has been raised from this sale. All of these proceeds have been sent to organizations such as But God Ministries in Haiti, the Center for Pregnancy Choices, the Baptist Children’s Village, Mission First, Gateway Rescue Mission, We Will Go Ministries, and this year proceeds will go to CityChurch in South Jackson and Buried Treasures Home in Byram. Buried Treasures Home is a home for women who have just been released from prison.

The First Baptist Jackson gymnasium in downtown Jackson will look more like a shopping mall at Christmas during the three-day sale than a gym because more than 60,000 items will be available from consignors for purchase.  It’s a great way for young moms around Jackson to earn a little money for themselves while providing high-quality name-brand items to other mothers who may not could afford them otherwise.

The public is invited to shop and the hours over the weekend are:

Thursday, February 22, 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. (a private save by invitation-only)
Friday, February 23, 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Saturday, February 24, 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
On Saturday, all items, which are already priced low, will be marked to half price.  The sale accepts cash, checks, and credit cards.
