First Baptist Jackson Hosts World Missions Weekend With Guests Dr. Zane Pratt, Linda Cooper, and Dr. Jason K. Allen

Jackson, MS, November 15, 2017 – In an annual celebration of international missions, First Baptist Church of Jackson, Mississippi, will be home to dozens of missionaries from around the world and from around the country from November 29, 2017 through December 3, 2017. This weekend will also be the kickoff for the promotion of the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. First Baptist Jackson is one of the largest contributors in the SBC to this offering which grows annually and enables missionaries to stay on the mission field to continue ministering to unreached people around the world. With more than 20 international trips planned for 2018 alone, Lee Thigpen, Interim Missions Coordinator and Executive Director of Mission First at First Baptist Jackson, states that “in the 180 years that we have been a congregation (one of the longest in Mississippi) we have taken missions and reaching the lost world seriously and our annual missions offerings reflect that commitment. It is a focal point of our church.”  Cindy Townsend, Minister of WMU and WEM, is directing the World Missions Weekend event, that begins on November 29, 2017, and ends following the morning worship service on December 3, 2017. “We are honored to have Dr. Zane Pratt from the IMB, Linda Cooper, President of National WMU, and Dr. Jason Allen, President of Midwestern Theological Seminary, as keynote speakers this year. Supporting, encouraging, and praying for these missionaries is a large part of the weekend, and our speakers have all been very enthusiastic about being here.”
