First Baptist Jackson Presents Live on the Lawn

Jackson, MS, November 5, 2017 – Today, November 5, 2017, First Baptist Jackson will present the First Annual Live on the Lawn. This is an event for the public and it will be held on the lawn of Mississippi’s state capitol building beginning at 11:30 today. First Baptist Jackson shares a city block on President Street with the state capitol and they are using this event to invite not only the downtown community to visit their campus, but also all of Jackson. “We’ve been in downtown Jackson for 180 years and this event is part of our local mission initiative to be involved in our community and share the love of Christ to our community,” says Dr. Lavon Gray, Interim Executive Pastor. Up to 2000 people are expected to attend the event today.

The event will feature live music from Temperance Babcock and Bill Ellison, an antique car show, food catered by Penn’s and other food trucks, art exhibits by local artists, activities for kids including a petting zoo, a train ride, a firetruck, a cupcake walk, and more. The stage show will be hosted by Walt Grayson.

All are invited to join the fun today, November 5, 2017, from 11:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.  The event is free, but food is available for purchase on the grounds.
